1) The Canadian Government Scholarship Program

The Canadian Government Scholarship Program is a scholarship program that offers $60,000 in funding for post-secondary studies in Canada. This includes four years of full tuition, as well as funding for living expenses and transportation costs. In order to be eligible for this scholarship you must be accepted into a full-time degree program at one of the following institutions:

  1. University of Guelph
  2. Ryerson University
  3. Concordia University
  4. McGill University
  5. McMaster University
  6. Queen's University
  7. Simon Fraser University

 

2) The Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation

The Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation is a prestigious scholarship for students who want to pursue an undergraduate degree. The scholarship is awarded based on the student's scholastic achievement, leadership and community involvement.

There are a total of 10 scholarships that are offered each year, with an average of $50,000 awarded per scholar. Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents, have at least a 3.5 GPA (or its equivalent) and plan on enrolling full-time at a public post-secondary institution in the coming fall semester.

Scholarship recipients will also have access to mentorship opportunities with senior leaders from some of Canada's most prominent organizations and institutions including Deloitte, TD Bank Group and more.

 

3) The J.W. McConnell Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded by the Government of Alberta and requires students to be enrolled at an Alberta university. There are two awards, one for high school students and one for post-secondary studies. The minimum amount that a student can receive is $2,500, with a maximum award of $5,000. To be eligible, applicants must have family members who have served as community volunteer firefighters or police officers. The application deadline is March 15th annually.

The J.W. McConnell Memorial Scholarship (known locally as the McConnell) was established in 1986 by the Province of Alberta's Community Volunteer Organizations Program Board (CVOPB) to honour Jock McConnell's many years of service as a volunteer firefighter and member of CVOPB's board of directors.

 

4) The Killam Fellowships Program

The Killam Fellowships program is a scholarship opportunity that rewards students with financial need, who also show academic potential and leadership skills. The program is open to Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada and is targeted at students who have completed their first year of undergraduate studies. To be eligible, applicants must demonstrate financial need as well as academic merit. The fellows are awarded $20,000 per year for up to four years (or five years for the Banting Postdoctoral Fellows).

The Killam Fellowship supports two types of fellows: Killam Research Fellows and Killam Teaching Fellows. Research fellows receive $5,000 annually for up to three years; teaching fellows receive $2,500 annually for up to three years.

 

5) The TD Canada Trust Scholarship for Community Leadership

The TD Canada Trust Scholarship for Community Leadership is open to high school and post-secondary students who will be enrolled at a Canadian university or college. Students must demonstrate leadership skills, community involvement and an interest in financial management. They must also be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada. Five scholarships are awarded annually with each scholarship worth $5,000.

 

6) The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships

The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships is the federal government's premier award for master's and doctoral students. The program aims to attract international students as well as Canadians studying abroad, with a goal of fostering research excellence and promoting Canadian leadership in the global knowledge economy. With this scholarship, you can receive up to $50,000 per year for three years of graduate studies. This scholarship is open to students who are enrolled or intend to enroll full-time in a master's or doctoral program at one of over 60 designated partner institutions across Canada.

 

7) The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships

The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships is a graduate scholarship offered by the Canadian Diabetes Association. Students will be awarded $75,000 over three years for one year of study at the University of Toronto. The award is open to applicants from all disciplines who are currently enrolled in a PhD or MD/PhD program. To be considered eligible, applicants must have completed their PhD and had their defense.

The Schulich Leader Scholarship (six sentences)

The Schulich Leader Scholarship is offered by the Canadian Engineering Memorial Foundation (CMF). To qualify for this scholarship, students must be enrolled as an undergraduate student at an accredited engineering university or college and demonstrate leadership qualities.

 

8) The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Doctoral Fellowships

The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Doctoral Fellowships provide funding for doctoral students and researchers who are currently registered in an eligible doctoral program at a Canadian university.

Fellowships will be awarded on the basis of merit, scholarly promise and financial need.

Eligible candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada.

In order to be eligible, candidates must have completed an undergraduate degree by the time they commence their doctoral studies and must register full-time as a doctoral student at an eligible institution during the fellowship term.

Candidates may not hold another type of Fellowship simultaneously with the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Doctoral Fellowship. The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Doctoral Fellowships are tenable up to three consecutive years.

 

9) The Faculty of Arts Dean's International Scholarship

This scholarship is open to international undergraduate students. Applicants must be enrolled full-time, have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and show evidence of significant interest in the study of Asian cultures. Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents who are not eligible for any other scholarships offered by the Faculty of Arts at Western University.

 

10) The Canadian Centennial Scholarship Fund

The Canadian Centennial Scholarship Fund is a highly competitive scholarship program. To be eligible, students must have been born on or after January 1, 1997 and be Canadian citizens or permanent residents. This $100,000 scholarship is offered annually and will be awarded on the basis of academic excellence (GPA) and financial need. The deadline for applications is March 31st.
